The french windows in the living room lead directly onto the perfectly private terrace at the back of the cottage with its gorgeous driftwood tables and seats that seem to have materialised straight out of a fairy tale! Wrap yourself in one of the warm fluffy bathrobes in the downstairs wet-room, step down onto the sunken patio area and slip into the inviting Canadian Spa Hot-Tub, the water hot, bubbling, and waiting to help you soak away the stresses and strains of modern living.
Here you will also find “The Den”, a warm and cosy Scandinavian style cabin, often used as a handy changing room for the tub, but so much more than this, with games, magazines and plenty of space to relax. The tiny, brilliant village shop is happy to order meat from the local farm shop (a real farm shop on a traditional working farm), perfect for cooking on the hand-crafted barbecue. Th kitchen door opens directly onto the terrace so it’s easy to nip inside for extra ketchup!
The beautiful open and sunny front garden, with its low stone wall, careful cottage garden planting and immaculate lawn commands excellent views of the old stone- built village of Kirk Ireton. The cottage has private parking of course, although the bus stop, quirky, rural (and not very frequent!) is very close by for those eager to leave the car behind and explore the old-fashioned way.
Or, simply sit on the garden bench and watch village life unfold, sample the unique and famous 17th Century ” Barley Mow” pub and pop into the tiny but very well stocked village shop, both just twenty yards down the hill.
