With stunning views of the lovely unspoilt village of Kirk Ireton and the surrounding Derbyshire countryside, the master bedroom is a sublime and stylish sanctuary in which to relax.
The centerpiece of this enchanting room is undoubtedly the magnificent, voluptuous and imposing, six foot wide four poster bed. It has been created with original reclaimed timbers from the old lace market in Nottingham, and handcrafted locally in the lovely spa town of Matlock. It is, quite simply, stunning and high enough to need steps to help our guests climb in! Luxurious fabrics, solid oak floor, atmospheric lighting, original paintings and thoughtfully chosen accessories create a warm and welcoming haven of tranquility.
Adjoining is the beautiful en-suite bathroom with deep double bath, warm heated floor and huge, bespoke, shower cube. Fluffy towels, robes, slippers, soaps and scents await to help you relax and soak away the cares of a hectic life.
Beautiful cosy living space
An inviting, warm and sunny room, this elegant living space has French Windows to the rear and a large deep-seated window overlooking the village to the front.
A wealth of beautiful oak beams, original artwork, deep oak windowsills and warm subtle lighting blend with the honey colour of the floor and the sumptuous soft furnishings to create a delightful and seductively cosy ambiance.
Lie back on the wonderfully soft leather sofa to catch up with your significant other, watch your favourite TV programes, or simply allow yourself to drift away, lulled by the hypnotic dancing flames of the hand-crafted tunnel fire.
The natural stone tiles in the living room run through into the snug. A lovely versatile space, it is perfect as a cosy nook to snuggle down on the sofa to at the side of the stunning tunnel fire to finish off that bestseller, or just set the dining table, open the wine, light the candles in the candelabra and enjoy a romantic dinner.
The kitchen is ,of course equipped with all modern appliances – fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fresh coffee maker, etc., and plenty of elegant crockery, cutlery and utensils. The breakfast table with TV above is perfect for catching up with the news whilst you enjoy a leisurely lunch.
Hot-tub, garden & den
The french windows in the living room lead directly onto the perfectly private terrace at the back of the cottage with its gorgeous driftwood tables and seats that seem to have materialised straight out of a fairy tale! Wrap yourself in one of the warm fluffy bathrobes in the downstairs wet-room, step down onto the sunken patio area and slip into the inviting Canadian Spa Hot-Tub, the water hot, bubbling, and waiting to help you soak away the stresses and strains of modern living.
Here you will also find “The Den”, a warm and cosy Scandinavian style cabin, often used as a handy changing room for the tub, but so much more than this, with games, magazines and plenty of space to relax. The tiny, brilliant village shop is happy to order meat from the local farm shop (a real farm shop on a traditional working farm), perfect for cooking on the hand-crafted barbecue. Th kitchen door opens directly onto the terrace so it’s easy to nip inside for extra ketchup!
The beautiful open and sunny front garden, with its low stone wall, careful cottage garden planting and immaculate lawn commands excellent views of the old stone- built village of Kirk Ireton. The cottage has private parking of course, although the bus stop, quirky, rural (and not very frequent!) is very close by for those eager to leave the car behind and explore the old-fashioned way. Or, simply sit on the garden bench and watch village life unfold, sample the unique and famous 17th Century ” Barley Mow” pub and pop into the tiny but very well stocked village shop, both just twenty yards down the hill.
